Account Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our rapidly expanding advanced photonics design and manufacturing company needs the skills and drive of an Account Manager who is looking to further their career at one of Silicon Valley’s most exciting companies to work at. The successful candidate will take the helm overseeing existing and proactively drive growth at new accounts to become the frontline, technical and sales point of contact for clients.

The candidate will report to, and work closely with the SVP of Sales & Marketing to achieve the company’s desired metrics. The position is based out of our Headquarters in Santa Clara.

  • Support sales through the creation of technical proposals, presentations, and reports to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that technical questions from customers receive prompt and technically correct responses.
  • Participate in customer meetings and sales presentations. Prior to meeting with customers, engage in discussions with sales directors and others for the purpose of understanding objectives, and ensuring alignment.
  • Present the company and our capabilities in ways which are consistent with our values and which raise customer confidence.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the company and divisional goals and objectives for sales processes (e.g. – quoting process, new product launch process, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the key performance indicators (KPI) and the success measures for each process.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of our product lines, including production methods, equipment, and processes.
  • Receive requests for quotation (RFQ) from the sales team and directly from proactively approaching customers and evaluate RFQ’s with the goal of understanding the technical requirements and key milestones.
  • Enter RFQ and daily task details into appropriate information systems (e.g. – Salesforce) and ensure that the appropriate flags have been set in the systems.
  • Monitor the collection of the technical information as it is gathered from subject matter experts.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all team members with relevant contributions to quotes have provided information within the agreed upon timeline.
  • Complete quotes, including appropriate documentation within agreed upon timelines.
  • Complete quotes and appropriate documentation based upon specifications provided by Engineering and approved by the Engineering Manager within agreed upon timelines.

Our requirements (to be considered you must have):

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited organization, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least two years of manufacturing, sales, customer service, or engineering experience.

Critical success factors (we’ll give a strong preference to those who have):

  • An advanced degree in engineering.
  • Previous work experience:
    • Direct experience in Telecom, automotive, industrial, or medical verticals.
    • In technical sales, engineering project management, or direct customer-interactive technical support for engineered products and quotation preparation.
  • A past history of success:
    • Managing complex projects with aggressive deadlines and completing them on time and on budget.
    • Developing technical proposals and technical sales presentations and presenting in front of both large and small groups.
    • Communicating complex technical subjects to both subject matter and non-subject matter experts.
